It’s common for women of color to have the problem of dark top lips. The cause of dark lips could be genes or effects of dehydration due to dry climates. Also, as everything you eat or drink comes in contact with the top lip first, it needs a lot more moisture compared to the bottom lip.
Here are a few natural remedies that can help in lightening the top lip:
Rub a slice of lemon to your top lip and let it stay for about 5 – 10 minutes. If it’s itching, it’s working!
2. Yogurt, Honey & Lemon
What you’ll need
- ½ teaspoon Yogurt
- 1/3 teaspoon honey
- 6-9 drops or lemon
Mix all the ingredients and apply to your lips and let it sit for 30 minutes and then scrub it off. Moistened lips and actually lighter than before is the result you will achieve.
3. Rose Water & Vaseline
Step 1: Rosewater
- As natural as possible! Even better if you can make it at home by boiling natural rose petals in distilled water, and then applying it on your lips before bed.
Step 2 Vaseline
- After applying the rose water on your lips with your fingers, immediately put on a layer of Vaseline and say goodnight :).
